Course Description

Designed for motivated G10–12 students, the Youth AI Applications Course introduces the foundations of Artificial Intelligence through hands-on, real-world projects. Students learn how modern AI tools work, how to design AI-powered solutions, and how to apply AI responsibly in school, daily life, and future careers. This course is perfect for students who want early exposure to STEM fields such as computer science, data science, software engineering, and digital innovation. Learning Goals By the end of this course, students will: • Understand core concepts in AI, machine learning, and neural networks • Build real AI mini-projects and prototypes • Learn prompt engineering and interaction with AI models • Apply AI tools to schoolwork, productivity, and creative tasks • Analyze ethical and societal implications of AI • Build a beginner-friendly portfolio piece for future applications Course Modules (30 Hours Total) Module 1 — What Is AI? (Foundations) • Types of AI (Narrow AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI) • Neural networks basics • AI in everyday life Module 2 — Working With AI Tools • Prompt engineering fundamentals • AI for research, writing, and summarizing • AI for math and coding assistance • Productivity workflows for students Module 3 — Building Mini AI Projects Hands-on guided projects such as: • AI chat companion • AI-powered study assistant • Image or text generation workflow • AI automation tasks (beginner level) Module 4 — Introduction to AI Programming (Beginner Level) • Basics of Python for AI • Using beginner-friendly AI libraries • Working with datasets safely Module 5 — Ethics, Safety & Responsible AI • Bias, misinformation, and data privacy • Safe usage for students • How AI affects future careers Module 6 — Final Capstone Project • Students build a small AI application or prototype to showcase in a final presentation.
